How To Use Leather Cleaning Products

Mad Cow Leather Cream (2 times a year depending on exposure to elements)

We engineer Mad Cow leather cream to protect leather pieces that are exposed to the elements (water, UV light, dirt).  Examples would be: motorcycle bags/seats, car seats, shoes, and couches.  We do not recommend using the leather cream on nubuck or suede.  Check out our recent blogs to see what our cream can do:  Restoration of Motorcycle Leather Restoring Leather Car Seats

The treatment process begins before you even apply any Mad Cow leather cream.  You will want to clean the leather from dirt, dust, or other containments.  Use a mild detergent (a small amount of dish soap and water).  If dirt, dust, or other contaminants remain on the leather, you could be massaging debris into the item instead of removing it.

To apply, you will want to use a lint-free cloth to massage (in a circular motion) the cream into your leather item.  You will only need a small amount because it will go a long way.  Apply until the leather is fully covered.  Let it cure for 24 hours.

Leather Dressing (2 times a year depending on exposure to elements)

We recommend using the dressing on pieces that are less exposed to the elements.  The leather dressing is like a lotion.  It’s great for leather belts, wallets, and purses (just to name a few).

Just like the leather cream, you will want to clean the leather from any dirt, dust, or any other containments.  Use a mild detergent (a small amount of dish soap and water).

Application is quick and easy.  Mad Cows leather dressing has an easy-to-use pump to help get the job done right.  You will only need a small amount of the dressing.  Massage the dressing into the leather in circular motions with a lint-free cloth.  Allow the dressing to cure for 24 hours.

Leather Spot Cleaner (Apply when needed)

As the name of this product suggests, leather spot clean is applied to leather items.  This product is used to help wipe away the tough, hard-to-clean buildups.

Use a mild detergent (a small amount of dish soap and water) to clean off as much dirt or other contaminants as you can before using the spot cleaner.

The spot cleaner has a spray to help you ensure the entire item is covered.  Once you spray the spot cleaner on the leather, use a soft bristle brush and scrub in circular motions.  This will help loosen and remove the unwanted contaminants.

Waterproofing Spray (Reapply as often as needed)

Whoa, a leather company that makes a product not designed for leather?  Our leather care products all offer waterproofing qualities, but what about those that aren’t leather?  That’s why we created our waterproofing spray.  The waterproofing spray is for non-leather materials (like suede and nubuck).

Again, it is crucial to make sure you clean off whatever you are choosing to waterproof.

The spray bottle is all you need!  You will want to spray until the item is fully coated and wait an hour between applications.  We recommend making 2-3 applications.
